Architecture firm Populous has unveiled their extraordinary designs for MSG Sphere London, a massive spherical arena set to rise on a five-acre site near Olympic Park. Envisioned as a glowing orb wrapped in digital screens, the 18,000-seat arena would host music and esport events for the Madison Square Garden Company (MSG). The MSG Sphere London appears visually identical to the renderings of the MSG arena for Las Vegas, also designed by Populous.

Worlds largest single-domed tropical greenhouse unveiled for France

A lush paradise of waterfalls and tropical plants has been unveiled in Coldefy & Associates’ designs for Tropicalia, the world’s largest tropical greenhouse under one roof. Proposed for Pas-de-Calais, France, the 215,000-square-foot greenhouse will be sheathed beneath a double-insulated dome and designed for energy efficiency and include heat recycling. The $62 million project will feature a variety of tropical landscapes filled with flora and fauna and linked by a one-kilometer walking path.

NASA just unveiled a tiny nuclear reactor for future Mars residents

Researchers at NASA, Los Alamos National Laboratory and the Department of Energy have revealed that they have successfully tested a small nuclear reactor that may someday provide power to human habitats on Mars and beyond. That’s the vision Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) weaves with new research from their engineers. They embedded nanoparticles into watercress leaves, inducing the greenery to emit dim light for almost four hours.

Dibdo Francis Kr’s rainwater-harvesting 2017 Serpentine Pavilion unveiled in London today

Diébédo Francis Kéré’s 2017 Serpentine Pavilion debuted in London today. The pavilion is inspired by the culture of Kéré’s home village of Gando in Burkina Faso even as it plays with experimental construction techniques. The 2017 pavilion was unveiled on a perfectly sunny day, but once it rains, visitors will be able to enjoy a waterfall as the roof both protects visitors from the water and collects it for eventual use in parkland irrigation.
