A 2,000 acre wildlife area known as the “crown jewel” of the national refuge system is about to be gutted as Trump begins construction on his border wall. US Customs and Border patrol has quietly been preparing to start the 18-foot tall border wall in the Santa Ana National Refuge in southern Texas, according to an anonymous official. The refuge is home to 400 bird species and the endangered ocelot, but if the wall is constructed as planned, it will… View full post on Inhabitat – Green Design, Innovation, Architecture, Green BuildingEco funeral – Inhabitat – Green Design, Innovation, Architecture, Green Building

Trump approves new pipeline that will go right under the US-Mexico wall

As if President Trump’s promise to build a wall on the United States-Mexico border wasn’t controversial enough, he recently approved the construction of a new pipeline destined to go “right under” the dividing landmark. The New Burgos Pipeline will carry up to 108,000 barrels of refined petroleum products each day and will cross the border between McAllen, Texas and Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. A joint venture between NuStar Energy LP and PMI, the announcement has, unsurprisingly, drawn plenty… View full post on Inhabitat – Green Design, Innovation, Architecture, Green BuildingEco funeral – Inhabitat – Green Design, Innovation, Architecture, Green Building

US states and cities say they’re sticking to the Paris Accord without Trump

President Donald Trump said he was elected to represent Pittsburgh, not Paris, as he withdrew the United States from the Paris Agreement on Thursday. Pittsburgh, apparently, doesn’t think much of his leadership. The mayor of that city along with 29 other mayors, three state governors, over 80 university presidents, and over 100 businesses have banded together to commit to the Paris Accord without the president. Former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, who’s helping lead the effort, said in an… View full post on Inhabitat – Green Design, Innovation, Architecture, Green BuildingEco funeral – Inhabitat – Green Design, Innovation, Architecture, Green Building

World officials entreat Trump to stay in Paris agreement

President Donald Trump’s actions don’t just impact the United States. As the world grapples with climate change, orders on the Clean Power Plan and oil drilling impact the rest of the world. The Guardian spoke with world leaders, some of whom were involved in the 2015 Paris climate deal, who agree it would be disastrous if Trump were to pull America out of the historic agreement. You’ll never guess why Trump wants to scrap the Energy Star Program

We’re all familiar with the little blue star displayed on home appliances that tells you how much electricity it will use. The EPA’s Energy Star program is about as uncontroversial as they come: it is a win for consumers and saves billions of dollars. But for some reason, Trump wants to toss the program out. Why would he want to do a thing like that? It probably has nothing to do with the low Energy Star ratings his properties have… right?

Beyond rating appliances, Energy Star rates commercial… View full post on Inhabitat – Green Design, Innovation, Architecture, Green BuildingEco funeral – Inhabitat – Green Design, Innovation, Architecture, Green Building

Donald Trump leaks plans to relocate the White House to the top of Trump Tower

Election Day is still seven months away, but Donald Trump is already making plans to move into the White House. On Friday, the Republican candidate said “I’m going to win. And here’s the thing: the White House is just as old and outdated as its politics. I’m not gonna live with those liars and losers in Washington D.C., so I’m going to air-lift the White House to the top of Trump Tower where it deserves to be.”

When questioned about his plans to relocate the presidential residence, Trump… View full post on Inhabitat – Green Design, Innovation, Architecture, Green BuildingEco funeral – Inhabitat – Green Design, Innovation, Architecture, Green Building

China calls America selfish amid Trump attempt to revive coal

China doesn’t want to lead the way on climate action without the help of the United States, according to an editorial in Chinese state media.
