Global tourism’s carbon footprint is four times bigger than we thought

World’s largest solar energy project will be 100 times bigger than any other on the planet

200 gigawatts of solar power. $200 billion. 100,000 jobs. Those are the numbers attached to what could be the biggest solar energy project in the world, under a deal signed by Saudi Arabia and Japanese conglomerate company SoftBank, Bloomberg and Reuters reported. The move could help Saudi Arabia, the largest oil exporter in the world, progress from oil to renewables.

This plant-based coating makes fruits and veggies last up to four times longer

How do you preserve fruits and vegetables after harvest? Generally, you need cold temperatures. But what if there was an alternative to refrigeration? That question inspired Santa Barbara-based Apeel Sciences, which created Edipeel, a post-harvest protection product created with edible extracts from plants. Inhabitat spoke with CEO James Rogers about the product, which forms a micro-climate around each piece of food so it lasts at least double the amount of time it would otherwise.
