In a bid to save the historic Gamla Lidingöbron bridge in Stockholm from demolition, Swedish studio Urban Nouveau has proposed transforming the structure into 50 luxury apartments topped with a High Line-inspired linear park. Boris Johnson proposes 22-mile bridge to connect UK and France

Would a 22-mile bridge crossing the English Channel help connect the United Kingdom and France? Foreign secretary Boris Johnson proposed the infrastructure some have called the Boris Bridge, and spoke about the idea of a second link with France’s president Emmanuel Macron.

PLP Architecture’s CarTube proposes plan to move city traffic underground

 

What would it look like if we took cars off the road and put them underground? PLP/Architecture is proposing we do just that, with their CarTube project that would see the creation of a network of underground tubes with massive conveyor belts that move vehicles from one place to another. And, according to TreeHugger, they’re proposing we do away with above ground roads – instead covering them with green features like grass and trees.

Gensler proposes temporary floating structure for UK Parliament

The upcoming refurbishment of the Palace of Westminster means trying to relocate UK Parliament with minimal disruptions. Gensler has proposed they don’t move very far, instead conducting business on a floating structure on the River Thames. The modular construction, named Project Poseidon would be both cost effective for taxpayers and visually stunning for passersby.

UK fracking company proposes to dump wastewater into the sea

As public concern continues over the environmental costs of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, one United Kingdom company said they would toss wastewater from the controversial process into the sea.
