Elon Musk wants to build a rocket that can fly you from New York to Shanghai in 30 minutes

.

Imagine being able to travel from New York to Shanghai in just 30 minutes. If Elon Musk — the visionary behind PayPal, SpaceX, and Tesla — succeeds with his newest vision, a trip of this kind will soon be possible. During Musk’s Space Exploration Technologies Corp., the entrepreneur shared his goal to build the code-named “BFR,” which could transport anyone anywhere on the planet in just 60 minutes. New super batteries could charge phones in seconds and electric cars in minutes

A scientific breakthrough at the University of Surrey could completely change how we charge our devices. Researchers developed a new material that could be used to create supercapacitors 1,000 to 10,000 times more powerful than conventional batteries. The new super batteries would also be safer, greener, faster charging and more efficient.

The breakthrough is made possible by a special type of polymer that is, surprisingly enough, adapted from the principles used to make soft contact lenses…. Truck lays 50 meters of its own road in 6 minutes, and then picks it back up

Rather than create a truly all-terrain vehicle that doesn’t need a road, one company in Wales designed a truck that carries its own road surface, lays it down, and then picks it back up. Faun Trackway—the name of the company as well as its amazing truck—utilizes a series of thin aluminum extrusions to roll out a temporary roadway capable of supporting vehicles weighing up to 70 metric tons. This unique functions allows the truck, and other vehicles in its party, to travel across otherwise impassable… View full post on Inhabitat – Green Design, Innovation, Architecture, Green BuildingEco funeral – Inhabitat – Green Design, Innovation, Architecture, Green Building
