Modular, swappable footwear helps reduce waste

Would it surprise you to know that Americans chuck 300 million pairs of shoes a year? Most of those end up in the landfill where they take decades to disappear, and while some people donate them or send them out for recycling, wouldn’t it be better if shoes simply lasted longer? Quang Pham proposed just such a concept with these modular shoes that have five parts that can be customized and swapped out when needed.
