Jamaica will ban plastic bags, straws and Styrofoam by 2019


Jamaica has become the latest country to introduce a ban on single-use plastics. In order to reduce pollution and the impact of plastic on the environment, the Caribbean nation will ban single-use plastic bags, plastic straws, and Styrofoam beginning on January 1st next year.

Daryl Vaz, the minister without portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, encourages consumers to use reusable carrier bags from local enterprises instead.
