In an effort to decrease conventional tourism, which accelerates pollution, soil erosion, loss of natural habitats and endangered species, the United Arab Emirates is encouraging ecotourism for the millions that visit the country each year.

Gleaming, recyclable facade clads a solar-powered Dutch house

Move over brick and mortar—a new house in Amsterdam is eschewing the traditional facade for a striking alternative that gleams golden in the sun. Local architecture practice MOPET architecten designed the contemporary home—named the Brass House Amsterdam—for a family who sought sustainable features.
